Marine lifting bags such as rollers and airbags – supplied by FabriQ
FabriQ Innovation AS , in collaboration with Buitink Technology , offers marine lifting cushions designed for use as rollers when moving heavy objects , for example during ship launching or module handling . These cushions can also function as collision and shock absorbers in maritime operations.
Extremely robust construction
The pads are made of TPU-coated polyester, type VII , reinforced with aramid fiber – a material known for its very high tensile strength and puncture resistance .
-
Tensile strength: 13,000 N / 5 cm
-
Extreme puncture resistance – withstands rough surfaces and high loads
-
Resistant to seawater, UV radiation and chemicals
-
Long service life – even with frequent and demanding use
Custom tailoring – manufactured to your specifications
All cushions are manufactured in Buitink's factory in the Netherlands, and delivered by FabriQ Innovation AS, tailored to the customer's needs. You can choose:
-
Diameter: Standard 50–250 cm (other dimensions on request)
-
Length and shape: Freely adaptable to application
-
Centering design: Pads can be manufactured with tapered ends to keep the load centered when rolling
Areas of use:
-
Launching of boats and vessels
-
Moving large structures or modules
-
Shock absorption at dock or vessel contact
-
Temporary support during transport or production
Advantages of FabriQ's marine lifting and airbags:
-
Very low weight in relation to carrying capacity
-
Quick and easy to position and reuse
-
Can be operated manually without heavy machinery
-
Takes up little space when stored – inflatable and compact
-
Gentle on the surface and load – reduces the risk of damage

Transport and packaging
Buitink Technology's marine airbags are characterized by their compactness when deflated and by their relatively very low weight. A marine airbag with Buitink technology typically weighs only 20% of the weight of a rubber alternative, that is, five times lighter!
This allows us to ship our maritime airbags at attractive prices worldwide.
An example: 10 Heavy Duty, double layer marine airbags, each measuring 10 meters in length and 70 cm in diameter, can be easily packed into two Pallet boxes/boxes measuring 120 x 80 x 133 cm / 47 x 32 x 52 inches (lxwxh).
Together, these 10 marine airbags weigh only 600 kg, that is, 60 kg each.
Operational support
Not only do we supply marine airbags, we can also supply blowers, air hoses and all necessary connections. You can also rent blowers and accessories from us. In addition, we can offer operational support. We can place and move the marine airbags and provide support during the operation where necessary.
The benefits at a glance
Compared to the alternative heavy rubber maritime airbags, Buitink Technology's airbags have a number of important advantages and features:
- Relatively very light weight (only 20% or less of conventional marine rubber airbags);
- Very compact when folded;
- Quick and easy to place and move thanks to its low weight;
- Custom-made from our own factory;
- It is also possible to produce shapes other than straight tubes (e.g. tubes that taper towards the middle to center the weight);
- All sizes are possible, and there are a number of options regarding thickness/height/inflated shape;
- Customized solutions can be delivered quickly;
- The material is flexible, making it relatively safe, preventing damage from impact with the environment or other objects;
- This panel does not permanently deform under high forces or impacts, but rather is flexible and simply bends with it (returns to its original shape);
- Resistant to all weather conditions, does not corrode;
- Ideal for use in maritime climates: excellent seawater and salt resistance.
FAQ about inflatable marine airbags
When do you use Launch Tubes?
There are often situations where heavy hydraulic lifting equipment, such as cranes, cannot be easily used due to lack of space or the control needed to perform the operation safely. Additionally, being able to use the pipes repeatedly provides a significant cost advantage over what can often be high crane rental costs.
How do you calculate the size and number of launch tubes needed?
Obviously, it depends entirely on the scenario in which you intend to use the pipes. Our engineers use the information submitted regarding weight, dimensions, etc.
To what pressure are the launch tubes inflated?
Launch Tubes are so-called low-pressure airbags, as they are inflated to no more than 0.5 bar. Built-in pressure relief valves ensure the release of pressure in the event of overload, whether during inflation or operation.
Can Launch Tubes be used more than once?
The material from which the tubes are made is extremely strong and is highly resistant to tearing and punctures. Therefore, the tubes are very durable and can be used many times. Should sharp parts cause cracks or punctures, they can be easily fixed with the repair kit included. We can repair any serious damage at our factory in Duiven.
What kind of air pump is needed to inflate the launch tubes?
Filling the tubes with air requires a blower, preferably one that has a maximum air pressure setting. While there is no need for the blower to build up high pressure in the tubes, it is helpful if it is able to pump a reasonable volume so that the process does not take too long. You can rent a blower complete with filling hoses for use during the launch from Buitink Technology.
Do the launch tubes have to remain connected to the blower?
Once the tubes are inflated and the filling connection on the tube is turned off, they can be disconnected from the air pump. If necessary, the launch tube can be refilled later during the operation.
Can Buitink Technology monitor a Launch Tube operation?
Although our customers are always responsible for the operations, BT engineers can act as supervisors while the operations are being carried out. During the launch, the supervisor will guide the operational crew on matters such as air pressure and where to place the pipes.
Do Launch Tubes come in standard sizes?
No, the size of the pipes is entirely determined by the shape and weight to be moved. On average, the diameter varies between 50 and 250 cm and the length from 5 to 10 meters. Each pipe is therefore specially manufactured at our factory in Duiven.
Buitink Technology Launch Tubes are lightweight. Doesn't that mean they can be damaged very easily?
Smart use of materials actually makes our tubes as much as five times lighter than rubber tubes. Despite their low weight, they are no less robust than heavier airbags and are perfectly capable of ensuring that any launch operation is a success. They are resistant to salt water and all types of weather conditions.
What is the best way to store the launch tubes after use?
After use, the fan is used to suck the air out of the tubes, making them very compact and easy to store. After cleaning, dry thoroughly and store in a well-ventilated area. To prevent aging, store away from direct UV light.
