Inflatable lift-roll-float system for salvaging stranded yachts – provided by FabriQ

In collaboration with Buitink Technology, FabriQ Innovation AS offers a specially developed solution for salvage operations on remote and difficult-to-access beaches : a universal inflatable cushion system that combines lifting, rolling and floating in one compact solution.

The challenge

When a (sailing) yacht is stranded in shallow water or sandbanks, and the tide does not rise high enough to sail the boat off the ground, there is often no other option than mechanical salvage. Traditional methods require heavy lifting or towing by vessel, which is often impractical or impossible – especially on isolated beaches.

The solution from FabriQ and Buitink

The inflatable lift-roll-float system enables:

  • Lifting the vessel with specially designed cushions under the hull

  • Rolling the boat over sand or beach without damage

  • Floating if there is water remaining under the vessel or the tide rises slightly

The system combines knowledge and technology from three product areas: lifting bags, rolling bags and floating floats – and provides a compact, lightweight and mobile recovery solution for situations where no other method is possible.

Advantages of the system:

  • Suitable for beaches without road access or port infrastructure

  • Gentle on hull and keel – no rigid components

  • Requires minimal equipment and crew

  • Easy to transport and set up on site

  • Modular system – can be adapted to different hull shapes and sizes

FabriQ Innovation AS assists with dimensioning, technical advice and delivery – and offers complete solutions for boat salvage in demanding environments .

What does our lift-roll drive system consist of?

A lift-roll-float system consists of several inflatable tubes, each 6 meters long, in different diameters. The tubes are equipped with pressure relief devices, air connections and aramid reinforcement where the tubes come into contact with the hull. A manifold with air pump can also be supplied.

A lift-roll-float system can be used with only labor. No forklifts, cranes or anything like that are required.

The ease of use of our inflatable lift-roll drive system

The pipes can be used as a lifting cushion to first slightly lift the ship and lift it out of the sand. Additional pipes can then be placed under the vessel and lift it further up. After this, the ship can be tilted so that it is on its side and the sword no longer sticks into the ground. The ship can then be rolled or wait for high or higher water so that the pipes float and the ship can be towed to open water.

In short, with a Buitink inflatable lift-roll-float system you can go in any direction and, depending on the situation, use it in several ways: to lift, roll and/or float or a combination of these.

The visualizations here in the images show a possibility of salvaging a stranded vessel and bringing it to open water.
