Installing rotor blades on wind turbines, especially offshore, is an extremely precise and risky operation . The effects of wave motion and wind make it challenging to maneuver the rotor blades into the hub without damage. The operation must usually be performed in near-still conditions – which severely limits the operating window.

FabriQ Innovation AS , in collaboration with Buitink Technology , offers a specially developed inflatable shock absorber that provides a safe, gentle and flexible solution during assembly. The system absorbs shock, guides the blade into the correct position – and reduces the risk of damage to both the rotor blade and hub.

Tested and proven performance
In testing, a 1600 kg water weight was dropped onto the inflatable bumper to simulate the impact of a rotor blade during assembly. The result:

✔ The system fulfills its intention – protecting the hub and rotor blades during unforeseen movements
