Inflatable support cushions for rotor blades – gentle and effective maintenance support

FabriQ Innovation AS , in collaboration with Buitink Technology , supplies inflatable support and lifting cushions developed specifically for the inspection, maintenance and repair of rotor blades on wind turbines.

Rotor blades are constructed from sandwich materials such as glass fibre reinforced epoxy – and are therefore sensitive to point loads. Traditional support systems can damage the surface, while inflatable cushions provide even, gentle support over a large area.

Solution: Flat platform pads for precise and secure support

The system consists of two or three flat platform cushions that are placed along the main route and inflated independently of each other . This makes it possible to:

  • Adjusting the support points precisely to the rotor blade geometry

  • Position the blade to the left or right without losing access

  • Perform inspection and repair without stressing or damaging the blade structure

  • Adjust height and angle as you work
